New Book: “GOT YOUR ANSWERS: The 100 Greatest Sports Arguments—Settled”

Official Media Release:

From the coauthors of 2023's Got Your Number—in which it was determined once and for all which sports legends owned the numbers 1-100 in sports—comes a follow-up title with even more nerve. More teeth. More gravitas.

This fall, ESPN's Mike "Greeny" Greenberg and Paul "Hembo" Hembekides tap into all of the best debates from every corner of the sports world and will present the definitive new book "GOT YOUR ANSWERS: The 100 Greatest Sports Arguments—Settled" (Hyperion Avenue, September 24, 2024). With a nod to the greatest sportscaster of all-time—Howard Cosell—GOT YOUR ANSWERS is the book Cosell could have written. Passionate. Opinionated. Decisive. Accurate.

Dropping facts and opinions with speed and audacity—some that will make your jaw drop—Greeny and Hembo dive into the greatest arguments in every arena… What are the top 10 dynasties in major sports history? What are the top 10 most coveted trophies in sports? What are the top 7 Game 7 performances? What are the top 10 auto racing families? Who are the top 10 undrafted NFL players in the common draft era? Who are the top ten players in the history of the Negro Leagues? … and they stir up the debates by unequivocally ending them.

The top five college football rivalries? Answered. Best pitch in baseball history? Ryan's fastball? Koufax's curve? Niekro's knuckleball? Rivera's cutter? Child's play. Mike Tyson's rank in the top 10 heavyweight boxers of all time? The answer is crazy, but indisputable. Who are the top 10 enforcers in NHL history? The top 10 lopsided trades? The top 10 iconic calls in sports broadcasting history? Every darn topic of debate in sports. Covered. And then settled.

Where Got Your Number was mostly a celebration of sports history and giving legends their due recognition, GOT YOUR ANSWERS is all about the debates that keep us coming back for more. Wrigley or Fenway? Federer vs. Nadal or Evert vs. Navratilova? Or maybe even Nadal vs. Djokovic? But what ties these books together—and what Greeny and Hembo are really the proudest of—is that even the most knowledgeable and passionate sports fan will learn a lot by reading them.

Especially if they're wrong.

GOT YOUR ANSWERS also answers questions like:
* Peyton and Eli? Venus and Serena? The Kelce brothers? Who tops the top 10 athlete siblings?
* Who have the top ten biggest slap shots in NHL history? Brett Hull? Bobby Hull?
* Best signature moves in basketball history? AI's crossover? Kareem's skyhook? Gervin's finger roll? McHale at the post?
* Is there any baseball swing prettier than Ken Griffey Jr.'s?
* 1997? 1986? 2019? What is the most memorable modern moment at The Masters?
* Can anyone top George Steinbrenner on the list of influential team owners?
* Wooden? Auriemma? Coach K? Pat Summit? Who is at the top of the top 10 most legendary Division One college basketball coaches?
* Who's more legendary: The Rock or Hulk Hogan?
* Where do Gretzky, LeBron, Tiger and Serena rank on the list of top 10 sports prodigies?
* Murderers' Row? The Steel Curtain? The Big Red Machine? What are the top 20 team nicknames in sports history?

GOT YOUR ANSWERS takes the debates from all corners of the sporting pantheon and provides controversial takes that will be debated endlessly, albeit fruitlessly. And each chapter grants readers a peek inside Greeny and Hembo's inner-most thoughts—along with some to-notch sports trivia questions from Hembo—while giving the coauthors the opportunity to elaborate on the lives and careers of "listed" luminaries like Billie Jean King, Josh Gibson, Muhammad Ali, Joe Namath, Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax, Wilt Chamberlain, Mario Andretti, Bo Jackson and "Shoeless Joe" Jackson. The book is a labor of love, but there is only one concern: That once readers finish the book there will be nothing left to argue about in sports. Ever again.

Sad Day in Baseball

The news of longtime Phillies' broadcaster Harry Kalas and former pitcher Mark "The Bird" Fidrych is just sad and puts a damper on the game. Here's a long at Kalas and Fidrych's career highlights. Harry Kalas 1936-2009 Called six no-hitters. Called Mike Schmidt's 500th home run. Every Steve Carlton start. Pete Rose's 3,631st hit. First games at the Houston Astrodome, Veteran's Stadium and Citizens Bank Park. 43rd season as a MLB broadcaster and also done NFL voice-overs. Mark "The Bird" Fidrych Debut on April 20, 1976. Final game October 1, 1980. 1976 AL Rookie of the Year 19-9, with a 2.34 ERA. Fidrych's claim to fame was that he would appear talking to the baseball and groom the pitcher's mound. Until then, see ya at the park!

Mets Need Help

This season was the Mets until they took a steep nose dive with injuries, no team chemistry and players under performing. They need help and they need it fast. The Yankees mean while are neck-and-neck with the Red Sox for first place in the AL East. This scribe is surprised but way to go. As I get used to Mobile Blogging on my Blackberry, it makes it much easier to write from anywhere. Until then, see ya at the park! Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

The Diagnosis

The Diagnosis Stage 1, but the game goes on I always cringed when I heard the word cancer. It scared me to the point of making my mind think that it's the end. I would always tell myself, I hope that in my life I never get cancer and have to deal with it.  Well, my most feared thought came true — I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Classic Seminoma.  My mind went blank, and I looked at my wife and said "Yes" after I hung up the phone with my doctor's office. I'm not going into great detail about my diagnosis, but I just want to express that it's important to get checked by a doctor when something doesn't feel right. Before I knew it, I was being rolled on a gurney into the operating room. The hardest part for me in this journey, besides telling my wife, was my family, especially my parents. In life, there are phone calls that are hard to make, and that was the hardest.  Now back to baseball and the first inning in my new game. Even though this is a baseball publi...
