2017 World Baseball Classic

       2017 World Baseball Classic schedule announced Tickets for Miami and San Diego venues available at worldbaseballclassic.com beginning on Thursday, Nov. 17 Press Release   |  November 15th, 2016 World Baseball Classic, Inc. today announced the full tournament schedule for the 2017 World Baseball Classic, which will begin on Monday, March 6th in Seoul, South Korea. The start date of the South Korea pool has been moved up by one day. As a result, that pool now becomes Pool A, with Tokyo, Japan becoming Pool B. Pool A, which will be played at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul from Monday, March 6th-Friday, March 10th, will feature host Korea vs. first-time WBC participant Israel in the venue's opening game on March 6th at 7:00 p.m. (all times local). Chinese Taipei and the Kingdom of the Netherlands will round out the rest of Pool A. Dave Elmore Named King of Baseball ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Minor League Baseball announced today that David G. Elmore, owner and founder of Elmore Sports Group, has been named the 2016 King of Baseball. The King of Baseball is a long-standing tradition in which Minor League Baseball recognizes a veteran of professional baseball for longtime dedication and service. IBWAA SELECTS TROUT, BRYANT IN MVP VOTE   Los Angeles  – The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America ( IBWAA ) announced the winners in its Most Valuable Player category Thursday, with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim's Mike Trout winning the group's American League award, and Kris Bryant, of the Chicago Cubs, being selected in the National League.   Trout received 109 first-place votes (61.93%) and 1981 points while being named on 171 of 176 ballots (96.61%). Others receiving first-place votes include Mookie Betts (42), Jose Altuve (11), David Ortiz (10) and Josh Donaldson (2).   Bryant received 145 first-place votes (81.92%) and 2293 points while being named on 176 of 177 (99.44%) ballots. IBWAA SELECTS KLUBER, SCHERZER IN CY YOUNG VOTE   Los Angeles  – The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America ( IBWAA ) announced the winners in its Cy Young category Wednesday, with the Cleveland Indians' Corey Kluber winning the group's American League award, and Max Scherzer, of the Washington Nationals, being selected in the National League.   Scherzer received 81 first-place votes (45.76%) and 850 points while being named on 169 of 177 ballots (95.48%). Others receiving first-place votes include Jose Fernandez (30), Kyle Hendricks (20), Jon Lester (19), Clayton Kershaw (12) and Noah Syndergaard (10).   Kluber received 56 first-place votes (31.82%) and 727 points while being named on 163 of 176 ballots (92.09%). IBWAA SELECTS MADDON, FRANCONA IN MANAGER OF THE YEAR VOTE   Los Angeles  – The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America ( IBWAA ) announced the winners in its Manager of the Year category Tuesday, with the Chicago Cubs' Joe Maddon winning the group's National League award, and Terry Francona, of the Cleveland Indians, being selected in the American League.   Maddon received 85 first-place votes (48.57%) and 585 points while being named on 157 of 175 ballots (88.70%). Others receiving first-place votes include Dave Roberts (66), Dusty Baker (10) and Terry Collins (10).   Francona received 102 first-place votes (58.62%) and 683 points while being named on 167 of 174 ballots (94.35%).
